…for leaving your grand marshal convertible during the Circle City Classic Parade to talk briefly to a little girl waving a USA Swimming 2009 Nationals swim cap who had been waiting all parade for your appearance. You absolutely made her day. And she thinks that now after talking with you that she will be able to improve her time on the freestyle in her upcoming meet.

  1. He is a big inspiration to many young swimmers, of all races! Someone is very lucky…

  2. CLASSIC!!!!

Now that’s a great picture. The black and white image is reminiscent of photos I used to see in JET magazine. Change a few names and replace the ball caps for fedoras, and that could have been Jack Johnson and Dorothy Dandrige. Look at the faces in the crowd. For one moment in time, it was the champ and the little girl.

I think the little girl is in love. Momma better keep an eye on her. If I am not mistaken, this is not their first meeting :-).

  3. rodaperr, it was so great—wish you could have been there. I almost did not get the pic, I was so excited. He certainly is an inspiration, as well as a trailblazer. As important as his swimming ability, IMO, is his willingness to give of his time.

    Oh, sorry about IU… đŸ™‚

CareyCarey, she was totally enthralled. A few moments before that the governor came over to the stands and spoke to her about staying in school and making good grades and gave her a free towel (?)—The whole time he was talking, she was like “Who is this man talking to me like this? Of course I do well in school!” LOL But with Cullen it was a whole different story as you can see.

I took a lot more images. I will try to post them soon. The Parade is always quite the show!
